The Nanthi award goes to a candidate who obtain the total highest GPA point with first or second class upper division appearing the nursing stream of the Allied Health Sciences.
Professor Chellathurai Sivagnanasundram served as a Professor of Community Medicine, since the beginning of the Faculty of Medicine in 1978. He continued teaching Community Medicine and engaged in community development programs till his demise on 04.06.2005. Professor Sivagnanasundram served as a Head of the Department of Community Medicine and Family Medicine and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna. He contributed greatly to the health services, research works and medical education at the regional and national level.
The award will be given at the annual convocation ceremony. The memorial award donated by the family of late Prof.C.Sivagnanasundram.
