- Mrs. Fathima Siromiya Shamil Mafras received the Best Poster Presentation Award at the 3rd International Research Symposium organized by the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Ruhuna, held in August 2025. The award was conferred in recognition of the poster titled “Molecular detection and antibiotic sensitivity patterns in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus colonizing pregnant women, Eastern Province, Sri Lanka.” The study, co-authored by Francis V. R., Kudagammana H. D. W. S., Dissanayake R., Handapangoda H. M. N. P., Siyaanujan P., and Liyanapathirana V., highlighted important findings on MRSA colonization and antimicrobial resistance among pregnant women, contributing valuable evidence to maternal health and infection control research in Sri Lanka. The abstract of the poster was published in the conference proceedings (page 73) and is available through the official University of Ruhuna website.
