Department of MLS in collaboration with Career Guidance Unit organized a webinar on
“CARRIER OPPORTUNITIES FOR MLS GRADUATES”, on November 24, 2020. The
resource person for the seminar was Dr. B.K.T.P. Dayanath [Consultant Chemical Pathologist,
Colombo North Teaching Hospital]. The programme was started at 10.15 am with the welcome
address by Dr.K.Thabotharan, Coordinator, CGU, UOJ. Mrs. T.J.Gnanakarunyan, Head/ MLS
gave brief introduction about the resource person. Followed by that Dr. B.K.T.P. Dayanath gave
a lengthy presentation on the “CAREER OPPORTUNITIES FOR MLS GRADUATES”. In his
presentation he highlighted about the responsibilities of MLS graduates in different clinical
laboratories and elaborated on various fields where they get employment opportunities and do
research. Further in the discussion with the students he insisted the necessity of undergoing
internship programme for MLS graduates and discussed the opportunities for higher studies in
the field of laboratory science. With the vote of thanks given by the Head/ MLS the webinar was
wrapped up around 11.30 am.
